CN Rail, Union Come to Terms on New Contract

CN Rail and members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) have come to terms on a new contract, avoiding a possible labour disruption.

The approximately 750 signals and communications workers were set to walk off the job just after midnight on Tuesday if no deal was reached.

CN said in a statement today no details of the tentative four-year agreement will be released until it is ratified by the union. The current collective agreement with IBEW expired on Dec. 31, 2024.

The union had been seeking an increase in pay for its members, along with an improved work-life balance.
